Hong Kong Published in the Gazette the Toys and Children’s Products Safety Ordinance (Amendment of Schedules 1 and 2) Notice 2019

The Government published in the Gazette the Toys and Children's Products Safety Ordinance (Amendment of Schedules 1 and 2) Notice 2019 on Mar 29, 2019. The Notice seeks to update the safety standards for toys and some children's products listed in the Schedule 2 (Schedule 2 products) under the Toys and Children's Products Safety Ordinance (Cap 424).

The Notice will come into operation on October 1, 2019.

The Ordinance stipulates that a person must not manufacture, import or supply a toy or Schedule 2 product unless it complies with all the applicable requirements contained in any one set of the safety standards specified in Schedule 1 and 2 respectively to the Ordinance. These standards are international standards or standards adopted in major economies.

Comments will be taken into account when deciding whether the substances will be added to the ECHA Candidate List of SVHC.
